Stephanie Rothenberg is an artist and educator using performance, installation and networked media to create provocative interactions that question the boundaries and social constructs of manufactured desires. Her work has been exhibited at venues and festivals including the Whitney Museum of American Art (NYC), MASS MoCA (MA), Sundance Film Festival (Park City, UT), ISEA (Helsinki, Belfast) and LABoralCenter for Art and Industry (Gijon, Spain). She is Co-Artistic Director of REV-, a non-profit located in NYC furthering socially-engaged art, design and pedagogy. Through her work with REV-in conjunction with her position as Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Studies at SUNY Buffalo, she has assisted with design for visual campaigns and public art projects for several non-profit organizations and activist groups in NYC and Western New York State including Retail Action Project, Buffalo-Niagara River keepers and the Coalition for Economic Justice. She has received awards from Creative Capital and NYSCA and has been in residence at Eyebeam (NYC), Harvestworks (NYC), free103point9 (Acra, NY) and SUMU/Titanik Gallery (Turku, Finland). She received her MFA from The Department of Film, Video and New Media at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
