Renée Ridgway is an artist, free-lance curator, writer and educator living and working in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She completed her studies in fine art at the Rhode Island School of Design, (BFA) and Piet Zwart Institute (MA), and has exhibited widely in the Netherlands and internationally (P.S.1 MoMA Hotel New York, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Museum De Lakenhal Leiden, Manifesta8). Ridgway is a co-initiator and contributor to n.e.w.s. a collective online platform for the analysis and development of art-related activity, drawing upon contributions from around the globe. Ridgway organises and curates the Masters project Negotiating Equity at the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) that investigates curation as artistic practice, investigating experimental and conceptual art practices under physical as well as virtual conditions. Negotiating Equity draws upon theories of fairness in questioning divergent value systems and asserts that these terms of engagement imply rethinking the political, economic and social conditions of art.
