Born in Barcelona he holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (1997) and graduated in Communication Science from the University Pompeu Fabra (1997). Professor at Technical University of Catalonia where he served as ViceDean for Innovation at the Computing School for six years. Senior Fellow at the Laboratory of Innovation Strategy (SLab), the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada. He is visiting research scholar of the Center on Organizational Innovation, Department of Sociology, Columbia University.
His current interests are the evolution of networked collaboration, culture, organization and the development of new spaces for innovation. He is been involved in several EU-funded projects in technology, innovation and culture. He is been doing extensive consulting in innovation and organization for major European firms and institutions.
He was one of the co-founders of Citilab (citilab.eu) a space for citizen innovation in Barcelona where he served as Director for Innovation. Besides that, he has participated in the creation of the Internet Society chapter in Catalonia, the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence, and the i2CAT Foundation for Internet2.
