Rachel Stevens is an artist based in New York City. Her work is often engaged with the materiality of media, cultural memory and urban public space. It has been shown at the Socrates Sculpture Park and in galleries, museums and conferences in the US and in Europe. She has taught media art and theory at Brown University, at Hunter College in the Integrated Media Art MFA program, The Rhode Island School of Design, Brooklyn College and the New School. Recently she taught a class on teaching to MFA students in the Brooklyn College Performance and Interactive Media program. Her writing on art and visual culture has appeared in Afterimage, Contemporary Magazine, Flash Art, and Millennium Film Journal. She has worked as a curator and producer for Creative Time and has also designed extensively for web-based media.
