Nishant Shah is the Director-Research at the Bangalore based Centre for Internet and Society. He has done his doctoral work at the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore and was the recipient of the Asia Fellowship awards for extended research in Shanghai, China. His primary focus is in technology mediated identities, spaces and everyday cultural practices. He has designed and taught multidisciplinary courses in university spaces in and outside India over the last seven years. He has worked as a cybercultures consultant for companies and organizations like Yahoo!, Partecs, Comat, Khoj Studios and is on the editorial board of the Inter Asia Cultural Studies Journal. Nishant is the primary researcher for a Global South based research programme titled “Digital Natives with a Cause?” that looks at the potentials for social change, political participation and pedagogic practices in the incipient interactions of young people in emerging ICT landscapes.
