Foster is an educator whose teaching focuses on environmental science and specifically biodiversity and conservation science at the American Museum of Natural History. Michael also trains Museum scientists to be mentors to young scientists. All of his work integrates strategies to recruit historically underrepresented students (HURS) into the science education pipeline and retain them as science professionals. Michael previously piloted the Enhancing Diversity in Conservation Science Initiative. He has a B.S. in Biology, and an M.S. in Environmental Policy and is finishing a M.S. degree in Environmental Science at a historically Black university.
