Matt is a researcher, software developer and teacher. As AssistantProfessor and Program Director of Adelphi University’s new Program in Educational Technology, he has been busy developing a new Masters degree to allow students to investigate the possibilities for using digital technology to create powerful learning experiences. In 2010, Matt received his doctorate in Instructional Technology and Media from Teachers College Columbia University. His research is concerned with the potential for collaborative software systems to foster a robustcultural, learning, and economic commons. He was a researcher and lead developer of the CTELL case-based learning system andSTEPS-to-literacy bilingual writing platform. Matt is the former CTO of mobile software start-up Crisp Wireless, and lead software engineerat IAG Research. Currently, he contributes code and thought to the Free Software language learning project, Wikiotics. Previously, he taught bilingual education and ESOL in the Mississippi Delta as partof Teach For America.
