Mariana Regalado is a librarian and associate professor at Brooklyn College where she assists students to become smart, curious, and confident information seekers. Her academic background includes both an MA in anthropology and an MLS, which are brought together in her current research—a multi-year, multi-campus ethnographic study of the daily experience of undergraduates as students at the City University of New York. Working with colleague Maura A. Smale, she has asked students to complete photo surveys and mapping diaries of aspects of their daily lives related to school work. Through the resulting visual data and in-person interviews they have begun to collect a broad array of data about how students travel through their days, where technology fits in, and their satisfactions and frustrations. Mariana is delighted to be part of the MobilityShifts conference and looks forward to learning from other presenters and attendees.
