Jared Lamenzo is President of Mediated Spaces, Inc., and Director of the WildLab, a winner of the MacArthur Foundation’s Digital Media and Learning competition. The WildLab mobile phone-based bird data collection program has reached over one thousand learners in NYC schools. It has been adopted by institutions like NYC Audubon and the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and used by thousands of learners outside of NYC. The app has been featured in the iTunes app store, the New York Times, and other media outlets. The WildLab’s Horseshoe Crab App is being used by researchers and citizen scientists to count HSC distribution and abundance. At SXSWi 2011, he and Richard Scullin led a panel/Q&A on the potential of using group messaging and check-in services to help learners engage with the world outside the classroom. Jared is a graduate of NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, as well as Harvard University in Engineering and Applied Science.
