Bio

Geoff Gilbert teaches in the Department of Comparative Literature and English, and on the MA in Cultural Translation, at the American University of Paris (France). His research interests are in the constitution of genres and other literary categories (including modernism and realism) as the focus for a range of social facts; translation theory; literature and economic processes. His experience of moving from the English Department at a large monolingual university - Cambridge - to a Comparative department in a tiny multilingual university increasingly informs his thinking.
